Hey lovely mamas, I’m 3 weeks postpartum after having twins (still can’t believe I grew two humans 😅) and was just wondering if anyone has any advice or personal experience with healing from a C-section — specifically the overhang and stretch marks.

My tummy’s gone down a fair bit already, which I’m grateful for, but I’ve been left with quite a soft, saggy overhang just above the scar, and I’m struggling to imagine it ever going away 🫣. It’s still early days but I guess I’m just curious if anyone found anything that helped (creams? massage? time?), or if it naturally improved with healing?

Any tips, products appreciated

Hi Ria, thanks so much for sharing your story! C-section mama over here too. Have you taken a look at the video here from Sarah, the Life Postpartum physio? Great tips there on when and how to start C-section scar massage.

Firstly, huge congratulations — twins is incredible!

I’m replying even though this post was submitted around eight months ago, as I’ve been on a similar journey. I’m now 11 months postpartum after a C-section, and while my tummy no longer hangs over the scar, there is definitely still a firm pouch there. For me, it hasn’t completely disappeared, and I’ve had to do a lot of mental work around accepting that too.

I’ve tried medical-grade silicone pads from Frida Mom and a C-section balm, and while they may have helped a little with how the scar looks, I’m not sure the results were quite as good as I expected or thought they would be. That said, everyone is so different.

I’ve just watched the scar massage video on the website and will be giving that a proper go.

If anyone has any recommendations that genuinely helped them, I’d really love to hear them too. It’s mainly the pouch that bothers me, I’m learning to accept the scar.
